Anita Junge-Hammersley was born in Chile and studied in Santiago. Her interest in arts came at an early age. She took several courses in arts, Chinese ink, tints on paper, and also in oils. She arrived in Canada on March 1974. She taught crafts at the Projet d'initiative locale in Montreal, in the Saint-Denis area. Her embroideries, copper work, and sculptures in macramé, were part of a collection that sold at La Centrale d'artisanat du Québec.
Anita continued teaching arts over the years to help the cooperative organizations in Saint-Bruno de Montarville and in the city of Quebec, where she studied sculpture in ceramics. Once she arrived in Ottawa in 1989, she learned to work with stained-glass, and joined a group of artists at the Ottawa School of Art.
Anita works at the present moment with oils, acrylics and mixed media. She is also a writer.
